• Pray that Oman will remain proactive in developing counterterrorism programs and strategies to ensure that it does not become a terrorist safe haven.
  • Pray that the influence of violent groups operating in neighboring countries will not spread to Oman. (2 Timothy 2:24–26)
  • Oman has changed rapidly since the new Sultan took power in 1970. Pray that as people adapt to new ideas and change they would be open to spiritual change as well.
  • Nearly all Christians in Oman are from other countries. In particular there are active churches that are seeing more and more Asians being saved. Pray the Christians in Oman would be witness to Jesus love and life in all they do.
  • Pray that Oman’s Muslim population would have a revelation of Jesus’ sacrifice for them.

The Sultanate of Oman is a country in southwest Asia on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders the United Arab Emirates on the northwest, Saudi Arabia on the west and Yemen on the southwest. The coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the south and east, and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The country also contains Madha, an enclave enclosed by the United Arab Emirates, and Musandam, an enclave also separated by Emirati territory. A vast desert plain covers most of central Oman, with mountain ranges along the north (Jebel Akhdar) and southeast coast, where the country's main cities are also located.

Oman is comprised of 92.7% Muslims and only 2.5% of the population are Christians. The state religion is Ibadi Islam. Although telling Muslims about Jesus is strictly forbidden Christians from other countries are allowed to meet together to worship. The Sultan is strictly opposed to any rise in extreme fanatical Islam.

Oman is ranked No. 36 among nations that are the worst persecutors of Christians based on Open Doors 2007 “World Watch List.” Islam is the state religion and that Shari’a is the source of legislation.
